On March 24, 2009, mother-of-2, Lisa Leckie (Johnson) was found dead in her third-floor apartment on Southdale Road East in London, just before 7 am. She was just 25 years old. Her eight-month-old son was found in his cot, unharmed.

Investigators believe she was killed on the evening of March 23rd, or in the early hours of March 24th. An autopsy revealed she died from asphyxiation.

Derek Stacey, Lisa’s common-law husband found her when he came home from working a night shift.

10 years later, in 2019, police revealed more details about the case. A note was left at the scene which had been written using an old “impact-style model” typewriter with a fabric ribbon. Though they didn’t disclose the contents of the note, they believe that Lisa Leckie knew her killer. 

Police have also re-released a surveillance video taken near the apartment at 9:12 pm on March 23rd. The video shows a man, 5ft 10” and approximately 200lbs. He’s yet to be identified but investigators are hoping to speak to him.

Lisa’s older son, Sean Leckie, who was just eight at the time of his mothers murder, wants anyone with information to come forward. 

“I want to know why someone would want to hurt my mother and everyone around her so badly.”

“Every time something new would happen, I’d think, she’s not here…”.

Detective Sergeant Alex Krygsman said;

“While there are no charges yet, the investigation has progressed.”
